Terror Island!

While digging through my nerd-boxes of doom (aka: researching for yet another upcoming horror project), I stumbled upon this fun and fast paced, "Island of Dr. Moreau" revision from the August 1953 issue of Forbidden Worlds #20. Nice art from Charles Nicholas, and a great cover illustration from Ken Bald... your already half-human host, Mr. Karswell, was so inspired by this post that he has actually fully transformed himself into-- THE MANGUAR!! *GROWWWRRR!!!

......this story borrowed MUCH, from "Island of Lost Souls", one of my absolute favorite flicks!....complete with the oogly "Manimals".....The only thing missing, was the deviant sub-plot, that would have the Mad Doctor trying to MATE one of his creations with the GAL, in search of her BROTHER!!.....but, let's remember!.... Ya hafta draw the line somewhere, as this IS a children's comic book, after all.......well, dontcha?!................. Beastiality, indeed, Karswell...!!!

It's too bad the interior artist didn't have the same creativity of the cover artist, that's a much nicer snake-man (as mentioned previous in the comments) then the one in the story.

This one is a bit paint by numbers with a pretty generic title. Some fun to be hard in the art -- I always like giving the mad scientist the darkened shadowing .

One interesting difference in this one is the heroes of our story are next to useless, only saved by the intervention of the beast man that still retains the brothers humanity.

Either you fight for justice....or you are in reality a supervillain bent on world domination!

(Hey I wouldn't mind Karswell as ruler of the earth, we could do a lot worse.)

Man, it's always a delight to run into another adaptation of one a my favorite stories! This was was pretty great too, for all that it might have used a little extra padding at the end. Extra awesome art for one thing! But also any Moreau story worth its salt needs to actually pony-up that sexy panther girl it promises us at the end of act two. That sexy leopard blogger at the very end makes up for it somewhat, I have to admit.
